Negotiations Update #3
May 1, 2018
OFTSE met with the district negotiating team on May 1, 2018.
The union reviewed the district’s proposals and asked many questions to clarify the positions stated in that document. In addition, OFTSE also identified a number of areas for tentative agreements, chiefly in articles that involved mostly a cleanup of old or outdated language.
The district needed more time to review the Union’s proposals and will hopefully provide feedback on them at our next session.
The remaining time of the session was spent brainstorming and documenting concepts and principles that will guide both parties in their efforts to collaborate on meeting their respective and mutual business and financial objectives. OFTSE reiterated its positions on maintaining growth of member salaries and ensuring a future for all of its current employees.
In the next session, the union hopes to receive comments on its proposals and to provide counter proposals to reasonable positions undertaken by the district.
The next bargaining session will be on Tuesday, May 29, 2018.
